AUTUMN: NATURE AND CULTURE
A visit to Cortina "off season", in autumn, lets you discover a special world of changing hues, scents - and a string of things for relaxation and enjoyment.
Plus, this autumn and until 6 January 2008, you can relish a close encounter with that incredible artist Titian, who was born in this area and who returned here to live out his twilight years.
With the exhibition "Titian. The Last Act", Belluno pays homage to its most illustrious artist and the genius of Renaissance painting who was born in Pieve di Cadore. In taking a closer look at the last artistic phase of the master, this Exhibition sets out to shed light on the real – and perhaps more concrete – reasons for his homecoming.
The Belluno Province thus proposes an exhibition-event with an international feel to it, with many paintings arriving from leading galleries worldwide. But it is also an occasion for the advancement of research by scientists and archivists. The studies by established art historians and younger researchers indeed allow for a greater understanding of Titian's last works and his studio.
If staying in Cortina, you can visit the exhibition and Belluno town by using public transport in a new way. This year you can buy a "Tiziano Guest Card" for bus and coach travel, valid - without use restrictions - on all "Dolomiti Bus" services. The special Cards cost 5 euro for one day and 12 euro for three days. They are valid only when shown together with the Exhibition entrance ticket.
