THE PARACELSO FOUNDATION

The Paracelso Foundation finds funds for supporting projects including scientific programmes of the Italian Association of Hemophilia Centres, and of all other istitutions working towards improving the condition of those affected by hemophilia or other congenital coagulation problems.
The first concrete project for the community was the financial help to those who had contracted the HIV virus in the 1980s from receiving treatments with blood-derivate products, which the only therapeutic option for combating the illness in those years. That project was achieved through a solidarity Fund in the 2-year period 2005-2006. About 500 people contributed to it.
The Foundation was member of the organising committee of the 12th Three-Yearly Conference on the Clinical andSocial Problems of Hemophilia, held in Milan in November 2005.
